Traveling with your ROKU: Hampton Inn, Laguardia (Video)

In this post I put together a video that shows you have to setup your ROKU in your hotel room in 5 minutes or less. This was the last hotel stop on our family vacation. I put together this video rather quickly since we were about to check out. This setup was really easy once you have used your HooToo Travelmate a few times.

The video input select was located on the remote just like it was at the Residence Inn in Melbourne.  Setting up the wireless was super easy since my ROKU was pre-configured for the HooToo Travelmate already.

Enjoy the video and please comment on your experiences of setting up your ROKU in your hotel.

Traveling with my ROKU (Video)- Hilton Garden Inn, Manhattan

So we are at the fourth hotel in our travels with my ROKU. In this next video, I’ll show you how I got the ROKU working at the Hilton Garden Inn.

}I have noticed in my travels that each hotel property has a different flatscreen TV setup so the key is to make sure you do two things:

  1. Find out where the HDMI inputs are located on the TV. If the TV is mounted on a pedestal they are most likely located on the back. If the TV is wall mounted they are located on the side.
  2. Find out how to switch the input sources to HDMI. In some cases the input source button is located on the TV themselves on the side or front mounted or in some cases located on the remote. Continue reading Traveling with my ROKU (Video)- Hilton Garden Inn, Manhattan

Traveling with my ROKU (Video) – LaGuardia Marriott

I visited New York city with my family and we checked in to the the LaGuardia Marriott. The TV setup was a little different there and I don’t think you will see this setup ever again since my guess it will be phased out.

Traveling with my ROKU (Video) – Residence Inn, Melbourne FL

I traveled with the family from Miami, FL to Melbourne, FL about a 3 hour drive away. I checked into the Melbourne Residence Inn. In the hotel room the setup was pretty simple with an LG flatscreen with an RF cable hookup and two HDMI inputs. The TV remote had an input selector that let you select between HDMI, cable, and composite inputs. This was a bit of twist since most TVs actually had the input button on the TV set. This router you’ll need because in some cases  hotels will only let you have one device at a time connected to the internet. This device is one of the best things I’ve purchased and I won’t leave home traveling without it. Its only $32!

Ok lets say you’ve got your HOOTOO and you’re in the hotel room. What do you do next? I put together these simple instructions for you to follow. Continue reading How to Setup Your Chromecast to Hotel WIFI
